And then, the volcano erupted

We just received exclusive reports stating that Mount Cctan has erupted about 5minutes ago Singapore time. Yes, the once dormant volcano has erupted, spewing copious amounts of red and yellow viscous hot lava onto the left surface of the mountain. Reports of growing seismic activity have been recorded over the past few days and Nature finally struck back on this once peaceful and glowing land.

Unfortunately, geologists has stated that more eruptions can be expected over the next few days, especially at the newly formed volcano.

this is not good.

A very MEAN prank...

ok so today, i went out to watch da vinci code with 2 of my army frens... despite the fact that my results were coming out the very same day. Those who know me will know that i am a ganjiong spider who sits by my laptop at the precise second to check my results. so ok anyway, my results were out at 3pm but it was already 8 plus and i have no clue how i did...

Being very "nice" frens, they offered to go to SMU library to check cos they were students there. i cant go in cos theres a stupid gantry that needs a matric guard... and i cant climb in cos there a mean farking bitch of a security guard guarding the door. my frens told me to give them my details so they can help me check and print it out while i waited outside.... and they did.

When they gave me my results i had a shock of my life.... i had like B+ B B- B- C+ and C-.... and my cumulative was like a 3.26... i was about to burst out crying.... i kept saying " you have got to be kidding me.... this is so impossible" and it is becos i know these are CRAP results which i dun deserve. at all.

Little did i knew that they faked the results and scared the shit outta me. ( i noe, NUS dun have C- grade but i was too freaked out to realise that) And to think that i was literally running thru some scenes in my brain that they will do something really mean to scare me (cos they took nearly 20mins to come out).... and yet i still fell for it.

ok so finally i didnt get shit results, neither did i do very well either, just one A and the rest Bs. Still quite far away from my 2nd upper.... BUT i will not give up my dream. YOU CAN TRY ME MAN, NUS.... you have no idea who u are messing with. i may not reach my goal in the end, but i can die trying... and i will.

Hates the Service Industry

Just bought a Starhub prepaid card for my mum. Finally! She has decided to shed her neantherdal fur for some tech savvy gadgets. She must be the last person in Singapore who hasnt got a mobile phone... Anyway, yeah. Apparently i got to activate this prepaid card before usage. And supposedly the instructions are inside the package. After i happily went home, i found the instructions completely useless... as there were none on "first time activation". ANGRY!!

SO i tried checked online.... Nothing. I called customer service.... 3 times. And i was put on hold on all occasions. ANGRY!! Wassup with starhub man. If you want people to activate their prepaid card, then jolly well make that the first set of instructions in the manual.

Anyway, i had a wedding dinner to attend at Grand Copthorne, some not-so-distant relative that i have never met before in my life. I figured i had nothing to do at home, and i needed good food... fast, so heck it. Count me in. But when it was time to go home, cabs were nowhere to be found.

First my dad, auntie and i waited at the hotel.... but somehow, no taxis wanted to drive in. We could see tonnes of available cabs swishing by outside the main road, but god forbid even one turning in.... wassup with that rt? ok so we change tactic. We went to the main road which we thought would be easier.

Once again, none of them wanted to stop for us. At least 10 available cabs drove pass us. I got so angry i started showing them the finger as they drove pass. Like seriously, it wasnt even 11pm but i was so SURE that they were all waiting for the 1130pm surcharge. Fucktards. DO NOT ON YOUR STUPID LIGHTS IF YOU NOT INTERESTED IN WORKING.

So in the end Service Industry: 2, Cheong Chye: 0. Well done man.

On a totally unrelated note, who has SIX FEET UNDER season 5.... i need it desperately. Willing to pay 12 bucks for all 12 episodes!!

Malacca Bound... and BACK!

Made a short trip to the rustic town of Malacca on Saturday with a group of my Rover Scouts mates. And I must say it was rather enjoyable, albeit all my whining and grumbling, no thanks to the sweltering heat.
In front of Baba House Hotel. Say Cheese!

I loved how the place just screams “old-school”… there were people making and selling clogs, shops selling curious knick knacks and pet shops littered with roosters, iguanas and 2 very sad caged in puppies *heart melts*.

Street art at its best

I think it just ate a cat... or a fat goose. either way it's just gross

Bring the word "backwater" to a whole new level

Clogs galore!!

Resting in a comic book store

The heat though, was none too pleasant… and it was made worse by the fact that there are no public buses in Malacca. Yeap, you heard me right. It just seems like the most ridiculous thing NOT to do…. And yet, it really does NOT exist. And one thing’s for sure, age really is catching up fast on all of us. Cindy summed it up best- “5years ago we used to be able to trek, build towers and tree-houses like nobody’s business… but now we can’t even take the sun man”

Roaming in the streets of Malacca.... notice how the sun is shining oh so brightly

And you know what the body needs most when it encounters heat? It makes you crave for a nice big bowl of CHENDOL. Slurp-a-licious…. Guess what, this is the first time I ever ate one whole bowl of chendol myself. I know I am a huge “mountain turtle” but yeah… it’s my new favourite dessert now.... just look at the copious amount of gula melaka!

I *HEART* CHENDOL

Had a chance to eat some chicken rice balls…. Dun really like it. It’s cold… and I like my chicken roasted, not white and fatty. But at least I tried yeah?

Weapons of mass destruction...

Prepare for battle!!

Had a fantastic dinner of satay celup, which is basically satay steamboat… a bit unhygienic ah, but as the saying goes- “the more unhygienic the food, the better it tastes”…. And god knows how many times they actually change the satay base, or rather, do they change it at all? Hehehe. Curiosity killed the cat and I dun think I wanna be a cat today… so I guess ignorance is bliss in this case.

And the best way to end off a perfect holiday? ICE COLD BEER!! Woohoo! *hic hic*

3 girls and 2 buckets of beer is not a good combination. hehe

*hic hic*

All in all, here’s the rundown of the wonderful trip:

Cost of bus ticket: S$23
Cost of Hotel: RM40
Cost of Chendol: RM1.70
Cost of Satay Celup dinner: RM10
Cost of Ice Cold Beer: RM12

Having a time of my life with 10 good friends: Priceless

Child Adoption in Singapore

I was just thinking, if i don't ever get married (which is a highly possible scenerio), is it possible to adopt a child as a single parent in Singapore. And after much googling and searching, i realised that

(1) the Applicant must be at least 25 years of age;
(2) the Applicant must be at least 21 years older than the child whom he/she is seeking to adopt;
(3) the Applicant must be a resident in Singapore;
(4) the child must be resident in Singapore;
(5) the parent or guardian of the child must consent to the application; and
(6) the spouse of the Applicant must give his/her consent if it is not a joint application

point no. 5 basically wiped out all my dreams of ever becoming a father.... I don't get the whole only 2-hetero-parent family is an effective family, it's like total bullcrap to me. Because logically speaking having one or 2 gay parents is better than having none at all. Right? Of cos i am talking about rational adoptive parents here, whether they are single/married heterosexuals or homosexuals.

Personally i think it is ridiculous to not even explore this avenue in giving parentless children and childless adults a chance at having a family. Bull crap.

Below is an ad about gay adoption rights (cant find one on single parents) which is pretty much my point.

UPDATE!!! (part deux)

Here's a 30sec update on the current state of things:

1. Totally loving the life i have right now. Wake up at 10am (yes i still wake up that early no thanks to my mum's constant nagging), surf the net, shit, eat lunch, come back and surf net, watch vcd, afternoon nap, eat dinner, surf net, watch tv, READ BOOK!!, sleep. Farking paradise.

2. FINALLY got my hair cut by an androgynous looking hairdresser (named Alika no less). And it made me realise cutting hair is an ART..... the way he flicks my hair, is like he's throwing fairy dust around... the way he whips out his scissors, tilts his head when he decides where to cut is like a dance on its own... totally theraputic to look at. (i am not a pyscho stalker... its just fun to zone out and stare at something. i just hope he wun think i am a freak.... hehe)

3. I am on a mission to try out all sweaters and jackets at fashion boutiques! i think i look good in them, no? hehe. Loves the sweaters at Zara. Hates the price.

4. I just found out a lot of my frens are like anti-govt. which i dun get... cause so far in my 23 years of living, there is nothing in my life that i wanna complain abt that's the govt's fault. And conversations abt last week's elections is as new as saying platform shoes is the new black. PAP won Aljunied. get over it. NEXT.

5. i have exercised a grand total of ZERO hours this hoildays, despite the fact that i have to take ippt in less than 4 weeks time. I need to haul ass.

6. Dreaming wierd dreams....

7. Missin my floormates. Already.

8. Going to Malacca next weekend!! Anyone needs anything there just gimme a buzz!

9. Currently reading Borrowed Time by Paul Monette... a memoir about a gay dude with AIDS that chronicles his relationship with his boyfriend. Both died of the disease. Read another of his memoirs abt his childhood, when i was in sec school i think, called Becoming A Man. i think my sis asked me to read it. she said that it was a good read. and it was. Check it out if u have the money and the time. (check out on how you can help with situation of youth getting AIDS a few posts down. Buy a dog tag!!)

10. Amazing Race and Survivor coming to an end next week. What am i going to do without my reality tv.... i dunno man. i am like seriously gonna die.

Alrighty den. Laters.

X-MEN Last Stand Trailer!!

What i like about the Xmen movies, besides being a spectacular visual feast, is the fact that they purposely parallel the plight of all social outcasts, as they struggle to win acceptance in a world where they don't "fit in."

Notice the conflicting reactions to the "cure" of the mutant gene (the activists, the anti-activists and those that pretty much want things to remain status quo), as well as the arguments between mutants who can "pass" and those who can't.

These comic books were perhaps more empowering for most social outcasts than any "how to be normal" instruction manual....

Without further ado, here it is, the 7min trailer of the best comic-to-big-screen movie:

PS: totally admiring Angel (the dude with the wings). i wanna fly away from here too.

The WORLD is at my FINGERTIPS!!

As you can see i really am very free, free until i was daydreaming about the places in the world that i WANT to go with the one i love before i die. here are just some of them:

Taking a long, lazy stroll in Central Park, in the middle of autumn, holding hands with the one i love. The vibrant colours of amber, red, mahogany and olive splashed in front of us. we sit down on a bench and just watch as time passes by and the sun sets.

Go on a hiking trip in Alberta in spring with the one i love. ride some horses. Pitch a tent in front of a lake. go fishin'. Drink cold beer. eat bbq steaks and potatoes. go to sleep. life is good.

Ever since i watched Serendipity, i SWORE to myself i must go to New York at least once in my life.... during Xmas. We binge on New York Cheesecake, drink champange, ice skate in front of the huge Xmas Tree at Rockefellar Center and countdown to a Merry Xmas... And then head back for some wild passionate sex till New Year's eve. hiak hiak hiak.

Mykonos in the heat of summer. getting lost in the streets. soaking in the sun.... maybe rent a yacht or something and go diving in the Mediterranean. And at the end of the day, we get pissed drunk and we repeat the same thing all over again the next day.

Lost in translation in Rio, Brazil..... basically just people watching at Ipanema Beach. Viewing the magnificent landscape of the mountains and the waves of the ocean. We play beach volleyball with the locals, lie on the beach and leave only when we get roasted to a golden brown tan.

As you can see i am quite the dreamer and there is something quite wrong with the beautiful pictures above:

1. i have absolutely no money to speak of

2. i have no special someone at the moment god dammit

this is such a torture..... i shall stop now.

A WHOLE LOTTA NOTHINGNESS

as above.... god damn bored. a lot of things happening but none of them related to me. so yeah. not worth mentioning.
