So finally, 18 days in the US. A single man, no less. I actually made it. hahaha. I highly doubt i will be blogging about it. It would be too much of a chore....
Couchsurfing was really quite fun. I was initially quite skeptical about this whole thingamajig.... but I ended up spending 2 days each at 2 different homes which were both super nice. Bob was a property agent so of cos his house was like prime property at Colombus Circle. my god he had a door man for crying out loud. I bet his condo was at least 3 to 4mil... Kenway stayed at the theatre district, naturally. He has been part of the ensemble for Wicked for the past 6 years.... haha sucks to be him. His was a studio-ish apartment which he decorated so nicely. i was too lazy to take photos but omg it was so cosy. (go youtube kenway kua i swear he ROCKS. He even tried out for SYTYCD twice but didnt make it both times. TRAVESTY!!)
I got to see NYC, Washington DC and Boston. Frankly speaking i liked all of them but the east coast seriously takes themselves too seriously. All these freaks in their power suits looking high and mighty, and when they jog, they actually sprint (overachiever much?).... sometimes they even run in rain. chill out man. i feel tired just looking at them exercise. Food was of cos amazing. I had my fair share of fastfood and fine dining. Wendy's rock....
NYC certainly is a city that never sleeps. You can find things to do anytime of the day. and if all else fails.... u can always people watch at central park. I think everyone should at least go to the Big Apple once in their life.... i mean.... ITS NEW YORK CITY!! DC was just massively sprawled.... the monuments, the buildings which gets tiring after a while..... i mean how many of those can u see in a day? hahhaa. But food was good too. Boston.... i was staying with the hostess with the most-est Winnie Ong in her shoebox apartment (as she quite aptly named it). I havent spoken to her since sec school but very recently reconnected with her at a fren's house party and found out she just moved 2 blocks away from me. She coincidentally went back to Boston around the same time i was visiting so that worked out well. Boston was charming and was also the only city i havent got my bearings correct at the end of the trip (dang it).
Bob said to me "it says a lot about a person who is so adventurous and willing to put himself out there for 18 days in a foreign city. How confident and sure he is about himself"....... well i wouldnt exactly put it THAT way since it wasnt by choice that i was travelling alone hahaha. but ok i'll take that as a compliment.
So yes. i did it (without breaking down which i half expected i would)! *pat on back. But seriously thou i dun think i EVER wanna travel alone anymore. been there done that.... not as fun as i expected it would be. maybe for shorter trips but my gosh 18 days is far too long. waiting for my plane back to Spore now at Mustafa Centre aka Doha airport and i cant WAIT to taste my father's CHAR KWAY TEOW MEE when i get home today fark meeeeeeeee. i wanna eat it nowwwwww.
Will be home soon my friends.... soon soon.
